Ora Mae Hyatt WW2 Army Nurse 2012
SHEROES United held the second Annual Salute to Women Veterans Event in November. Despite the heavy snowfall, many came out to pay tribute to our 2012 Veteran and Active Duty Personnel chosen as SHEROES of the year. There were many highlights of the evening.
As the awards progressed the audience was delighted by the method of acceptance of SHERO Michelle Ajeel who was on Annual Training and could not make the event. So her daughter and her former Commander, one of last years SHEROES, Colonel Camerone Trent accepted on her behalf. The evening continued with a total of ten Women Warriors being honored. Represented at this event were members of the US Airforce, the US Army, US Army Reserve, Utah National Guard, Arizona National Guard, US Navy, and US Coast Guard; we had Officers and Enlisted. SHEROES ranged from those recently back from Iraq to 90-year -old WW2 veterans. The complete list of Honorees can be found on this site under SHERO Veterans. You can read their entire story and understand all that each woman sacrificed in order to protect her country. Our hats go way off to our defenders.

SHERO Michelle Ajeel was SKYPED in by her daughter and Commander. As the evening progressed, each SHERO was brought on stage and given a significant scarf, once wrapped around their neck it was official that they are in the select group of those honored as SHEROES.
We all have SHEROES in our lives. Our mothers, daughters, best friends, and co-workers, many of these women have given all and have come back to a life forever changed. Being deployed as a Soldier or Airmen takes these women away from many precious moments. Children’s birthdays, school plays, soccer games, weddings, and funerals; you name it, they miss it. When they return home after being deployed, many things have changed and in many cases everything has changed. SHEROES United invites you to take just a moment out of your busy day to say THANK YOU for your service, and thank you for being so unselfish. Welcome home, with us you have many friends!
Thank you to all that stepped up and helped us make this event happen. This will be an annual tradition so watch out for our next years SHEROES, we will be accepting applications very soon!!!
